The Sandbox, 2019

This piece explores the permanent nature of plastic children’s toys, and the impermanent nature of childhood itself. It confronts the viewer with the unsettling experience of growing out of play, while the playthings remain the same. This piece utilizes projection mapping into a box filled with floating children’s toys, while a narrative is read about the feeling of recognizing the passage of time, and loss of one’s childhood. The videos were all shot and edited by me, using a distinct lack of color and vibrancy to signify the loss of playfulness.

Below are some images of the setup without video projection.
